Every problem in this section uses the same shape, so copy this when adding a new one.

A line or two on what the problem is and why it matters.

Current approaches: the main strategies being tried.

Why it's still open: what makes it hard.

Who's working on it: labs, companies, countries.

Latest: the most recent real progress, with a year.

Timeline: an honest estimate. Ranges are fine.

Status labels

  • Unsolved, no credible path yet
  • Early research, the basics are still missing
  • Active progress, real momentum
  • Mostly solved, rollout remaining
  • Solved

A few rules

Be honest about status. If a company promises fusion in five years, the status is still whatever the physics actually says.

Update, don't rewrite. When progress happens, change the status and add the breakthrough. The edit history is part of the story.

Name real players, so anyone reading can go and follow up.
